Only when she begins a forbidden flirtation with the city’s handsome young courier does she let herself imagine a life outside the walls. Until one by one, girls around her start to die.
Before she becomes the next victim, Nisha decides to uncover the secrets that surround the girls’ deaths. But by getting involved, Nisha jeopardizes not only her own future in the City of a Thousand Dolls—but her own life.

This book sat it my "to read" pile for a long long time. I originally picked it up because the review on the front of the book was from one of my favorite authors, Cinda Williams Chima, and I thought … well, if SHE liked it … but then it sat, as other, more delectable books were read before it. Finally I felt bad for the poor thing (and had a shocking lack of other books to read) and read it. And loved it. Seriously fun book! I liked the world she created, I loved Jerrick and the other cats. I loved how this book set in a fantasy world was essentially just a murder mystery. I look forward to where this series goes.
Mom note: As
a mother of readers, I also
want to make a note to myself (and others if they care)
why I would or
would not have my children read this book, because honestly, sometimes I
forget. This is a YA book, so everything is within YA strictures.
Violence: moderate; Profanity: no; Sex:"deep kisses" and the like, reference to a "House of Pleasure"
